The Port State Control Center serves as the executive and controlling force of the maritime administration for ensuring the compliance of ships and vessels visiting Iranian ports with safety and environmental requirements. This center also supervises the performance of foreign and domestic classification societies in regard to their covered ships, and pursues the following objectives:

1.    Promoting safety of vessels visiting Iranian ports;

2.    Establishing coordination and uniform performance regarding domestic classification societies;

3.    Minimizing adverse environmental impacts of maritime trades through concentrated and random inspections;

4.    Monitoring quality and quantity of seafarers' activities on board vessels; and

5.    Establishing a matrix for propagating maritime culture among coastal populations.
