Director of Amirabad Special Economic Zone: In the first quarter of this year, 844,869 tons of goods have been unloaded and loaded in Amirabad port, which indicates the 52% share of this port in the total volume of cargo handling operations in the northern ports of the country.
Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedipoor, Stating that the global spread of Coronavirus has had a direct impact on the world trade volume, as well as the Caspian Sea littoral states, Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedipoor said: Due to the epidemic conditions of this virus in the country, Amirabad Port has played a key role in providing basic commodities for the country in the first quarter of this year and by inloading 628,544 tons of this type of goods, has a 52% share among northern ports of Iran.
He pointed out that in this spring, 204 vessels carrying 844,869 tons of goods were unloaded and loaded in Amirabad port. 182,802 tons of goods, both oil and non-oil, has been exported through Amirabad port to other countries in the first quarter of this year.
The location of Amirabad port with 15 berths on the north-south international corrodor is the most important link that provides a strategic opportunity to increase the transit of goods from the Caspian littoral states to Central Asian countries, Saeedipoor emphasized.
