PMO Managing Director: Increase in maritime traffic; the main purpose of investment in ports
Supporting investors by considering incentive policies in private investment contracts is one of the Ports and Maritime Organization's priorities, said the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development.

During his visit to Amirabad port, Mohammad Rastad, the Managing Director of PMO pointed that ports have a major role in creating jobs, and improving economic prosperity of cities located in the coastal strips. In this regard Ports and maritime Organization has so far been able to create jobs for 35,000 people on the coastal strip.

The Ports Authority will provide subsidized special facilities to private sector investors active in the field of maritime tourism with, added Rastad. He also announced the operation of the maritime tourism zone of Amirabad port with the approval of the comprehensive commercial plan of ports and the creation of the necessary infrastructure by the private sector in the near future.

Considering that a large volume of goods needed by the country is provided through the Caspian littoral states, Mohammad Rastad stated that with the high capacity of Amirabad port, reducing the average time period for keeping goods in warehouses is effective in achieving this.
